HOHCVa was founded in 2012 by Brenda Lawson.  As the first Executive Director, she has done an excellent job of getting the ministry off the ground and has opened many of our eyes to the needs of teenagers struggling in this generation.  Both Brenda and the board of directors followed the Lord's leading to affiliate with and develop a program modeled after House of Hope in Orlando, Florida.  Orlando's 30 years' experience in successfully bringing teens and families to healing through Christ is both a blessing and an asset to HOHCVa.  Their encouragement and training provides a framework and business model for our programs.

Lisa Wolters assumed Brenda's role in April 2016.  Transplanted from Ohio, she has been a Shenandoah Valley resident for 30 years.  The Lord first led her to start a Crisis Pregnancy Center in Page County, and 6 years later assist in the formation of the Shenandoah County Pregnancy Center where she served as a volunteer counselor for 18 years.  Lisa's heart has been diligently preparing to serve House of Hope for 7 years.  She received her Bachelors from Liberty University in 2011, attended several trainings by the National House of Hope, and is currently pursuing JMU's Certificate of Nonprofit Management.  A mother of a troubled teenself, Lisa has this to say, "I know the frustration a parent feels when trying to find help for their wayward child.  I know the sleepless nights, the agonizing prayers, the lesson in total reliance on God to protect and bring a child back to himself, and the blessing of a prodigal son returning.  No family should walk this path alone.  House of Hope is here for you."

Current Director

Our mission is to provide a Christian home environment to help heal hurting teenagers ages 13-17 by building a foundation upon Jesus Christ that encourages spiritual, emotional wellness and educational growth with emphasis on family reconciliation under a supporting roof of love.

MISSION

Our vision is to provide a refuge and place of healing for hurting teens, taken after the model of House of Hope Orlando (the first House founded in 1985). Through Christian Counseling, education and spiritual guidance- all administered in a loving, home style environment – efforts are made to heal the hurts of these teenagers as well as their families. It is our prayer that every teen that enters will come to know the redeeming love and healing that is found only through Jesus Christ.
